First edition with portrait of the author.- Alighieri (Dante) Comedia con l'espositione di Christophoro Landino, Roman type, title printed in red and black and within woodcut architectural border incorporating portraits of Latin and Italian poets, verso a striking full-page woodcut portrait of Dante, woodcut illustrations in text and decorative initials, final f. blank, lacking [R with cross stroke]1-8, D1 (f. CCXXXIII) to end gnawed at head, with loss of text, some water-staining, including to lower corners at start, occasional worm traces (including a small one to title, just touching border of portrait verso), occasional spotting or staining, 19th century vellum, spine in compartments and with double leather labels, couple of compartments lifting, chipped, rubbed and marked, [Adams D92; Mortimer Harvard Italian, 145; EDIT 16 CNCE 1159], folio, Venice, [Jacopo da Borgofranco for] Lucantonio Giunta, 23rd January, 1529. sold not subject to return.
