Maimbourg (Louis) The History of the League, first edition in English, translated by John Dryden, a few small tears (including to title), minor marginal worming (slightly affecting frontispiece), surface soiling, rebacked, Printed by M. Flesher, for Jacob Tonson, 1684 § Herbert of Cherbury (Edward, Lord) The Life and Reign of King Henry the Eighth, title in red and black, woodcut initials, bookplate of A. H. Beesly, scattered ink marginalia, marginal toning and some cracking at gutter, contemporary speckled calf, spine gilt with loss to label, upper joint cracked and cover essentially detached, lower joint starting, Printed by Andr. Clark, for J. Martyn, S. Mearne, and H. Herringman, 1672; engraved frontispieces, some stains and the odd spot or mark, contemporary calf, rubbed, bumped and chipped, [ESTC R25491; R19246]; and another 17th century work with a London imprint, 8vo and folio (3)

⁂ The bookplate in The Life and Reign of King Henry the Eighth likely refers to A. H. Beesly (1839–1909), an English historian and educator known for his works on classical history and revolutionary figures.
