India.- Norman (J.B., Lieutenant, later Captain, British Army in India) [Copies of appointments, despatches, telegrams mentioning Norman in his service in India], manuscript, 32pp. excluding blanks, slightly browned, front free endpaper loose, original half calf, extensively rubbed, upper cover detached, lacks spine, sm. 4to, 1857-65.

⁂ "Copies of despatches... in which mentioned. Extract from a letter... 10th July 1857 addressed by Sir John Lawrence... to the Foreign Secretary Government of India. The sepoys on seeing the guns as the Europeans deployed, broke and made for their lives... the European officers behaved admirably... Lieutenants Norman... went among their men... ."
