Louis XIII (King of France, 1601-43) Diplomatic document addressed to the Seigneuries of Holland about a Treaty of Alliance between France and Holland, manuscript in French, 10pp., some slight staining, edges chipped, folds, slightly browned, disbound, folio, The Hague, [c. 1634].

⁂ This document is addressed to the Seigneuries of Holland relating to a treaty between France and the United Provinces of Holland, to prevent Spanish influence. The document mentions the current French wars and warns the Prince of Orange against a truce with Spain. The negotiations, begun in 1633, were conducted by the ambassador Hercule de Charnac, in The Hague, under the instructions of Cardinal Richelieu was concluded by the Treaty between France and Holland in 1635.
