Description

Maugham (William Somerset) The Trembling of a Leaf. Little Stories of the South Sea Islands, first English edition, first issue printed on American sheets and with "Eli of the Downs" appearing on the second page of the advertisements, signed presentation inscription from the author to Karl Pfeiffer on front free endpaper, 10pp. advertisements, browning to endpapers and half-title, cracking to hinges but holding firm, original cloth, slight toning to spine, minor chipping to head of spine, extremities a little rubbed, [Stott A25b], 8vo, 1922.

⁂ Karl Pfeiffer was a friend of the author's and whom he would write the informal biography "Somerset Maugham : A Candid Portrait".
