Maugham (William Somerset) The Unknown, first edition, signed by the author on dedication page, occasional light browning, small burn hole to half-title and title, a few later leaves with corners torn, original wrappers, creasing to spine, chipping to spine tips, light finger-soiling, lower wrapper with corner torn away, preserved in custom morocco-backed slip-case, [Stott A23], 1920; and another edition of the same, 8vo (2)

⁂ This possibly the dedication copy, inscribed to Viola Tree whose Aldwych Theatre first staged the play, in which she also appeared.
