Du Maurier (Dame Daphne, novelist, 1907-89) Typed Letter signed to Mrs Oldham, 1p., small 4to, Kilmarth, Par, Cornwall, July 3rd 1975, "How very kind of you to ask me to the presentation of the plaque ceremony on September 3rd. I feel most honoured, but alas, it will be quite impossible...Please convey my apologies to the Mayor and everyone concerned. Thank you again", central fold, light finger-soiling to verso, in original typed envelope.

⁂ The envelope addressed to Mrs Oldham, 25 Chapel Street, Penzance, Cornwall. This building has historic significance as the once home of Maria Branwell, the mother of the Brontë sisters, and her sister Elizabeth.
