Description

Dickens (Charles) A Christmas Carol. In Prose. Being a Ghost Story of Christmas, some light soiling, original printed wrappers, ink ownership name mostly erased from head of upper wrapper, spine chipped with some loss, soiled, joints split at ends but holding, 8vo, Chapman and Hall, and Abel Heywood, n.d. [c.1880s].

⁂ Extremely rare. We have been unable to trace another copy at auction or in an institution. Abel Heywood (1810-1893) was a publisher and radical who served as mayor of Manchester from 1862-63 & 1876–1877. As a publisher Heywood was committed to inexpensive, accessible press, including affordable newspapers and penny guides.
