Low (David) Twelve Biographies, one of 100 copies, 11 (of 12, lacking Walter Elliot) portrait plates each signed by the artist, loose as issued with accompanying booklet in original printed wrappers, one print soiled at bottom edge, original cloth-backed boards portfolio, rubbed and soiled, 1933; with an additional 13 similar portrait plates, many signed or inscribed by the subject, some a little soiled at edges, together with 2 T.Ls.s. and one A.L.s. accompanying the signed portrait, folio

⁂ The edition includes portraits of Albert Einstein, J.M. Keynes, Sir John Reith, Aldous Huxley, Marie Stopes, P.G. Wodehouse and Somerset Maugham; the additional signed/inscribed portraits include H.G. Wells ("seen & approved. The best caricature there is of me by far"), Ramsay MacDonald, G. Bernard Shaw, Hilaire Belloc (with T.L.s. "I think it is a very good one. Some of my friends do not, but I cannot agree with them. I think it very characteristic, which is what a caricature ought to be."), G.K. Chesterton and Augustus John.
