Description

Rodin (Auguste).- L'Oeuvre de Rodin. Exposition de 1900, John Tweed's copy with his ink ownership inscription to front free endpaper and with 2pp. Autograph Letter signed from Rodin laid onto rear pastedown, 2 cut signatures of Rodin from other letters loosely inserted, photographic plates, finger-soiling, contemporary cloth, rubbed, 8vo, Paris, 1900.

⁂ An excellent association copy, from the library of Rodin's friend, the Scottish sculptor John Tweed (1863-1933). In the letter, Rodin mentions William Rothenstein as well as "Beckett" (presumably 2nd Baron Grimthorpe who commission a bust by Rodin of his then fiancée, Eve Fairfax).
