⁂ An important work, which introduced Europe to the Hindu Pantheon, by Werdin, an Austrian Carmelite who lived on the Malabar coast from 1776-1789. Divided into three parts on liturgy, mythology and the genealogy of the gods, and concluding with a description of the Indian caste system. Also included is a scarce account of the Indian art in the Museo Borbonico of Naples.
