⁂ George Baldwin was a merchant and diplomat based in Egypt who established trade links for the East India Company and was unheeded in his warnings to protect Egypt from Napoleon. The work includes an eye-witness account of the Anglo-French engagements of 1801 at Aboukir and an essay on the plague.
