Luther (Martin) Omnium Operum, 4 vol., titles within woodcut historiated borders with Christ on the cross and John Frederick I, Elector of Saxony and Luther kneeling, vol. 2-4 with full-page woodcut of the dedicatees Johann Frederick II, Johann Wilhelm and Johann Frederick III, each vol. lacking final blank f., vol. 4 title with hole within woodcut border but much of missing piece loosely inserted, vol. 3 & 4 with first gathering working loose, a few short tears without text loss, very occasional early ink underlining or passage-marking, some browning and occasional staining, wormholes and traces scattered throughout the vol., heavier to vol. 1 and more sporadic to vol. 4, contemporary calf over wooden boards, covers panelled in gilt, upper covers with ?later gilt-tooled portrait of Luther within central lozenge flanked by circular 4 portraits ?of John Frederick I, Elector of Saxony and the 3 dedicatees, lower covers with central arms of the dedicatees with date 1559 at head (date sometimes worn), remains of clasps and one catch, gilt gauffered edges, each vol. with triangular portion excised to foot of lozenge, fading to gilt, some wormholes, worn with loss, joints split, vol. 1 upper cover detached, [VD16 L 3422; VD16 L 3424; VD16 L 3425; VD16 L 3427], folio, Jena, Christian Rodinger & Heirs, 1556-57-57-58.
