Manual for Inquisitors.- Eymericus (Nicolaus) Directorium Inquisitorum...Cum commentariis Francisci Peniae, 2 parts in 1, title printed in red and black with large woodcut printer's device, various ownership inscriptions to title (one with loss), small puncture-hole within title and first 6 leaves, some small worming from start to Sig. M & Sig. 2S to end, often within text but generally one or two small holes (more pronounced near start), some staining, light soiling, final f. chipped at margins, manuscript provenance note in a 19th century hand to front free endpaper, contemporary vellum, manuscript title to spine, lacking ties, stained, [EDIT 16 CNCE 1845], folio, Venice, Marcantonio Zaltieri, 1595.

⁂ Eymerich's infamous manual for inquisitors, composed as early as 1376, including discussion of various types of heresies, witchcraft, questions of jurisdiction, and proper trial procedure. This 1595 edition is rare in commerce; we cannot trace a record at auction since 1947.
