Medical hoax.- A Full Exposure of Ann Moore, The Pretended Fasting Woman of Tutbury, third edition, for the author, 1813 bound with A Statement of Facts relative to the Supposed Abstinence of Ann Moore..., light soiling to title, Burton-on-Trent, J.Croft, 1813, together 2 works in 1 vol., bookplate to front pastedown, 19th century half morocco, some scuffing to spine; and 2 others, trials, 8vo (3)

⁂ A scarce pair of works on the notorious fraudster who became a medical cause célèbre when, from 1807 to 1813, she claimed to have eaten nothing at all. Her story was eventually shown to be a hoax and it is probably that she survived the period by her daughter passing her food through her mouth while kissing her.
