Description

Lawrence (D.H.) Lady Chatterley's Lover, early pirate edition, one of 1800 copies (limitation number corrected by hand), scattered spotting and light soiling, original boards, early reback in parchment, small nick along upper joint, rubbed and soiled with corners worn, [Roberts p.99], 8vo, 'Imprimée en Allemange', Privately Printed, 1928.

⁂ An early pirate edition and potentially the first, as noted by Roberts, "The first pirated edition of the novel came to light in Paris in 1928; it was a close replica of the original and was marked 'Imprimé en Allemagne'. Some copies of this piracy were noted with Lawrence's forged signature [this copy without]".
