L'Amour en Fureur, ou les Excez de la Jalousie Italienne, additional engraved title, printed title in red and black with woodcut vignette, 5 engraved plates, woodcut initials and decorations, bookplate of John Chamier to front endpapers, scattered spotting and light surface soiling, 18th century morocco, spine gilt in compartments, spine darkened, rubbed and bumped, g.e., 12mo, Cologne, Pierre Marteau, 1710.

⁂ A rare and obscure novel by an anonymous author, focusing on a jealous husband who tyrannises his wife with a morbid and unhealthy obsession, subjecting her to an increasingly restrictive chastity belt. First published in 1667, it went through several editions, which were deemed illicit and subsequently banned.
