Brown (Thomas) The Works of Mr. Thomas Brown, Serious and Comical, In Prose and Verse, 4 vol., mixed editions, vol. 1 & 2 fourth edition, vol. 3 & 4 third edition, additional engraved titles, each vol. with series title in red and black with woodcut ornament, woodcut head- & tail-pieces, vol. 4 with advertisement f. at end, vol. 3 with few leaves trimmed at head or foot, vol. 4 D8 with repaired tear affecting few letters, the occasional stain, obscuring few letters to vol. 4 F12v, some spotting, light browning, later near-uniform red leather, gilt, sympathetically rebacked preserving much of original backstrips gilt in compartments, some slight discolouration to covers and wear to extremities, still an attractive set, 12mo, for Sam. Briscoe, 1715.

⁂ Thomas Brown (1662-1704) was a noted English satirist and Grub Street writer.
