⁂ Le Brun, husband of the artist Elisabeth Vigée-Le Brun, was a painter and engraver, collector, and agent-auctioneer active before, during and after the French revolution. He played an important role in forming the taste of the new bourgoisie at the beginning of the 19th century. A list of catalogues produced by Le Brun is found at the end of the catalogue. Poullain was a counseller of the King and in receipt of the monies produced by the area of Chalons.
