⁂ This album contains examples of the kind of work carried out by children in the Fröbel educational system. Friedrich Wilhelm August Fröbel (1782-1852) was a German educationist who first established the kindergarten. He believed that early education was necessary for a child’s development and introduced the idea of play-activity. At the time his educational system was considered dangerous because of the freedom allowed to the children to express themselves as they wished.
