Wittgenstein (Ludwig) Remarks on the Foundations of Mathematics, first edition, text in German and English, ownership signature of Paul Quentin Hirst in pencil, 4 pp. autograph notes in Hirst's hand loosely inserted, occasional underlining in pencil, browning to front free endpaper, original cloth, spine fractionally faded, spine ends lightly rubbed, dust-jacket, lightly toned, spine ends and corner tips chipped, 8vo, Oxford, 1956.

⁂ A very good association copy belonging to Paul Quentin Hirst (1946-2003), British sociologist and political theorist.

Hirst was a leading figure in early British structural Marxism. Later in life he became critical of certain aspects, particularly influenced by Michael Foucault and Wittgenstein.
