Peacock (Thomas Love) The genius of the Thames, signed presentation inscription from the author to his son to front endpapers "E. G. Peacock 2nd January 1844", H. Bradley Martin's copy with his bookplate, bookseller's ticket to front pastedown, small tear to title with neat repair, scattered surface soiling and light spotting, front endpapers loosely inserted, cracking at hinges, contemporary red straight grain morocco, gilt, spine gilt in compartments, spine faded and with some loss to head, rubbed and bumped, g.e., 1810; and another first edition of the same title, 8vo (2)

⁂ E.G. Peacock, the only son of Thomas Love Peacock, was a distinguished rower born between 1821 and 1826. He joined the Indian Navy in May 1841, but resigned his commission in 1844. Subsequently, he held various appointments at India House. He passed away in January 1867.
