⁂ Adelchi Negri's research had been important milestones in our understanding of rabies, with his discovery of the Negri bodies found in the virus of rabies. However, he had mistakenly believed that rabies was a parasitic protozoa which was shortly after disproven to be a filterable virus, instead. Despite this error, his discovery was a breakthrough in the diagnosis of rabies.
