Rycaut (Sir Paul) The History of the Turks beginning with the Year 1679, first edition, engraved portrait of the author by R.White after Lely and 6 engraved portraits of sultans, mostly by M. vander Gucht, slight water-staining to inner margin at beginning and to last few leaves, modern half calf, spine a little faded, [Atabey 1077; Blackmer 1466; ESTC R491522; Wing R2408], for Robert Clavell...and Abel Roper, 1700; with an imperfect 2 vol. sixth edition of Knolles's Turkish History of 1687 (lacking X2 & 3, 6K1 and with only 20 plates, mostly portraits of sultans), folio (3)

⁂ The Rycaut is a continuation of the sixth (and best) edition of Knolles's Turkish History up to 1699, itself including Rycaut's continuation to 1687.
