⁂ The first mentioned is a reissue, after the unauthorised edition was first published. When Desaguliers discovered that earlier printing, he approached the booksellers to find that two-thirds of the imprint had already been sold. As a result, the booksellers promised to insert a preface, written by Desagulier, along with an errata f. This copy being the reissue can be demonstrated through the placement of the signature mark 'b' being placed underneath the gap after 'PAUL', whereas in the unauthorised edition, the signature mark ‘b’ is under the ‘A’ of ‘PAUL’, according to ESTC.
