Braddon (Mary Elizabeth) London Pride or When the World Was Younger, first edition, presentation inscription "To Montagu White from The Author, January 6th 1898" to front free endpaper, light browning to endpapers, occasional very light spotting, some light dust- or finger-soiling, original dark green cloth, spine and upper cover lettered in gilt, upper cover blocked in light green and pink with design of a plant of London Pride, spine very slightly faded, spine ends creased with a few tiny nicks and very short tear to foot, little rubbed, still overall excellent, [Sadleir 306], 8vo, Simpkin & Co., 1896.
⁂ Potentially presented to a family member, with White being the maiden name of Mary Elizabeth Braddon's mother Fanny. Braddon was raised by her mother alone after Fanny separated from her father Henry because of his infidelities in 1840, when Braddon was five.
