⁂ The first mentioned the first edition of Sheridan's final work, an oriental tale published the year following her death. Frances Sheridan (1724-66) was an Anglo-Irish novelist and playwright, lauded and esteemed by leading literary figures of her time including Samuel Richardson and Samuel Johnson. She was the mother of famed playwright and politician Richard Brinsley Sheridan.
