Description

Harold Nicolson.- Rowse (A.L.) The Later Churchills, first edition, Harold Nicolson's copy with his ink ownership inscription "Harold Nicolson Sissinghurst, June 1958" to front pastedown dated 1958 and notes in pencil to final endpaper, pastedown and occasionally to margins, plates, original cloth, light toning and spotting to edges, cloth slightly mottled to border, spine ends a little bumped, dust-jacket, "June 12" in Nicolson's hand to spine, light staining to rear panel and verso, extremities lightly nicked and creased, 8vo, 1958.

⁂ Harold Nicolson (1886-1968), diplomat, diarist and book reviewer. His notes included important dates and events relating to the Churchill family, as well as comments on Rowse's writing such as: "Odd language [p.] 26", "Bad style [p.] 37". Small occasional marks in margins referenced in rear notes.
