Description

Botany.- Paxton (Joseph) Paxton's Magazine of Botany, and Register of Flowering Plants, vol. 3, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12 & 15 only (of 16), half-titles to all but vol. 12 & 15, 330 lithographed plates, all but one botanical and hand-coloured, a few folding, tissue-guards (a couple detached), vol. 3 with few leaves/plates slightly frayed at edges and detached, plates a few times trimmed into image at head and with imprints sometimes trimmed, occasional light soiling, but generally clean, ex-Royal College of Art with ink-stamps to pastedowns, contemporary red half morocco, t.e.g., vol. 3 backstrip working loose, spines slightly faded, worn at extremities with some chipping and small loss to spine ends, rubbed, some joints split but covers holding, small 4to, W.S. Orr & Co., 1837-49 (7); sold as a periodical, not subject to return.
