Birds.- Albin (Eleazar) A Natural History of Birds...carefully colour'd by his Daughter and Self, vol. 1 & 2 only (of 3), first edition, list of subscribers f. to each vol., vol. 2 with 104 hand-coloured engraved plates, vol. 1 with 96 hand-coloured engraved plates only (of 101), some plates numbered in ink or pencil manuscript, a few marginal tears, the odd small stain, some marginal worming, to vol. 2 very occasionally within platemark but no loss, some spotting, light browning, plates and many text leaves loose (some plates loosely inserted in wrong order), contemporary calf, very worn with loss, [Nissen IVB 14], 4to, Printed for the Author: And Sold by William Innys [&] John Clarke [&] John Brindley, 1731-34; sold not subject to return.

⁂ First edition of the first British bird book with coloured plates. The plates are engraved after Eleazar or Elizabeth Albin and others, and hand-coloured by the Albins. A third volume was published in 1738.
