Scaliger (Joseph) Opus de emendatione temporum, half-title and final leaf of preliminaries (blank) on heavier paper, title in red and black with woodcut device, woodcut initials, Roman, Greek, Hebrew and Latin type, tables, light browning, contemporary English calf, spine gilt with tan morocco label, rubbed and a little stained, folio, Geneva, typis Roverianis, 1629.

⁂ In this work, first published in 1598, Scaliger revolutionised the study of ancient chronology.

Provenance: Macclesfield copy with small embossed stamp to title and following couple of leaves and North Library bookplate
