⁂ Lodewijk de Dieu (1590-1642) was a prominent protestant minister and orientalist. In this volume are brought together his three contributions to Persian studies: a brief grammar with Genesis I-II appended, the Persian text and translation of the story of St. Peter, and the much longer text and translation of the life of Christ by a Spanish Jesuit missionary in India Jeronimo Xavier (1549-1617), who in 1594 was sent on a mission to the court of the Mogul emperor Akbar.
