India.- Baldaeus (Philip) Naauwkeurige Beschryvinge van Malabar en Choromandel...en het machtige Eyland Ceylon, first edition, fine engraved additional pictorial title, title in red & black with woodcut device, engraved coat-of-arms to dedication, 2 engraved portraits, 4 double-page maps, 27 double-page and 1 full-page plates and plans, 3 double-page linguistic plates of vocabularies and numerous illustrations in text, one or two full-page, lacks G2 from final section, two leaves of Register at end loose, occasional spotting and light browning, contemporary blind-stamped vellum, a little rubbed and soiled, split to upper joint, folio, Amsterdam, J.Jansson van Waesberghe & J. van Someren, 1672.

⁂ Comprehensive account of the early Dutch regime in Ceylon by a Dutch pastor, with fine engravings. The work is divided into three sections describing southern India, Ceylon and a final section on the culture and religions of the area.
