⁂ Rare copy at auction of this important commentary on Paul's Epistle to the Colossians. Davenant (1572-1641), Lady Margaret's Professor of Divinity at the University of Cambridge (the oldest chair at the university), and Bishop of Salisbury from 1621. He represented the Church of England at the Synod of Dort in 1618 upon the request of James I.
