⁂ I: Benjamin Franklin was encouraged by Sir William Keith, Governor of Pennsylvania, to go to London at the age of 19 and obtain printing equipment for a new newspaper. When Keith's financial backing did not materialize, Franklin worked as a typesetter at Samuel Palmer's press in London and recalled this imprint specifically in his memoirs as one of the books he had typeset.
