Rowlandson (Thomas).- [Combe (William)] [The Three Tours of Doctor Syntax], comprising The Tour of Doctor Syntax in Search of the Picturesque; The Second Tour of Doctor Syntax, in Search of Consolation; The Third Tour of Doctor Syntax, in Search of a Wife, 3 vol., mixed editions, fourth, second and first respectively, 2 hand-coloured aquatint vignette titles (vol. 2 without) and 78 hand-coloured aquatint plates by Thomas Rowlandson, vol. 1 single plate with small closed tear at margin, some browning, vol. 2 frontispiece and title loose, all vol. with some foxing, off-setting and occasional trimming to plates (sometimes affecting captions), contemporary half calf, spines with double morocco label, vol. 3 upper cover detached and all other joins very weak, rubbed, [Tooley 427-29], [1813-21]; Political Sketches of Scarborough, 20 only (of 21) hand-coloured plates by J. Green and etched by Rowlandson, title loose from gutter at foot, some foxing and off-setting, contemporary black half morocco, a little rubbed, 1813, all vol. by R. Ackermann, 8vo (4)
