Poe (Edgar Allan) Manuscript Found in a Bottle, in The Gift: A Christmas and New Year's Present for 1836, edited by Miss Leslie, pp.67-87, engraved frontispiece and plates, p.67 marginal tear with tape repair, soiling and some staining, particularly to front free endpapers, some light browning and foxing, original elaborately blind-stamped black morocco, spine titled in gilt, some rubbing to joints and extremities, lower joint with subtle repairs, upper joint split with cover working loose, rear free endpapers renewed, g.e., [BAL 16126], 8vo, Philadelphia, E.L. Carey & A. Hart, [1835].

⁂ First edition in book form, Poe's work first published in the 19th October 1833 issue of The Baltimore Saturday Visiter as the $50 first prize-winning story. The volume also includes the first appearance of Washington Irving's "Unwritten Drama of Lord Byron".
