Norton (Caroline, author and law reform campaigner, 1808-77) Autograph Letter signed to "Sir", 3pp., sm. 8vo, 3 Chesterfield Street, n.d. [c. 1845], on a swindler, "The ingenious imposters practised in London teach suspicion. Not long since, a person looking like a farmer, & representing himself to be one of my brother's tenantry applied to me for a small loan... . This man reminded me that I had danced with a Mr Pope... . Nevertheless it turned out that he was a notorious swindler, & had not told me a single word of truth. I lent him PS5", folds; and another, an engraved portrait of Norton, v.s., v.d. (2); and c. 80 others including: John Galt; Scottish novelist, Olinthus Gregory, mathematician etc., folds, some removed from albums, v.s., v.d., mostly 19th century (c. 80).
