Wordsworth (William, poet, 1770-1850) Autograph Letter signed to "My dear Sir", 1p., 8vo, Trinity Lodge, Cambridge, 23rd April [?1827], "Being suddenly called out of Town by business I could neither treat myself with a repetitive of one of those Breakfasts at your Table, which I enjoyed so much, nor even take leave of your Sisters... May God protect the Country at this dreadful crisis!", tear repaired half way across page, browned, laid down on paper.
⁂ Written from his brother Christopher Wordsworth's lodgings, the home of the Master of Trinity College, Cambridge. Perhaps written in 1827 when Wordsworth wrote his poem, "Recollection of the Portrait of King Henry Eighth, Trinity Lodge, Cambridge".
