Description

Woman artist.- Birch (Mary Ann, active c.1800) Album containing over twenty watercolour landscapes, including 15 mounted and inset within yellow wash borders with ink inscriptions and dated '1799' below, watercolours, brush and ink, 14 signed 'Mary Ann Birch', some pencil studies unsigned, and others loose within album, various sizes between approx. 120 x 170 mm (4 3/4 x 6 3/4 in) and 220 x 290 mm (8 3/4 x 11 1/2 in), occasional off-setting and minor browning, some surface dirt, some album leaves missing, others loose, marbled boards, rubbed and scuffed, one of the pastedowns signed 'Mary Ann Birch', oblong 4to, [circa 1799 and slightly later]
