Burnet (Thomas) Archaeologiae philosophicae: sive doctrina antiqua de rerum originibus, first edition, ink and blind library stamp to title and final leaf, some browning, some edges brittle, cloth repairs to hinges, contemporary calf, rebacked and corner worn, small 4to, [Wing B5943], R.N. for Walter Kettilby, 1692.

⁂ First edition of this controversial work by Burnet in which he tries to reconcile the biblical creation story with scientific ideas and with what could be known of ancient accounts of creation. It was so controversial, Burnet told his publisher not to reprint, abridge or translate the work.
