David Singmaster (1938-2023) was emeritus professor of mathematics at London South Bank university and provided the first comprehensive mathematical analysis of the Rubik’s Cube as well as one of the first published solutions. He had a vast personal collection of mechanical puzzles and books on maths and brain teasers, to which this lot belongs.
