Edo period, 18th century

woodblock print, benizuri-e, signed Suzuki Harunobu hitsu (Brush of Harunobu), published by Harimaya Shinshichi, circa 1760

Vertical hosoban: 31.3 x 14 cm.

A young boy with a hobby horse plays beneath the bough of a blossoming cherry tree. He wears a robe designed with tengu and okame masks. The poem also pertains to the spring season.

 

 



Condition Report:
Good impression and colour, slight toning, some creasing, a few fox marks, diagonal fold mark along the top edge, some slight soiling, the red collector's seal to verso showing through slightly to the front of the print, a few pinholes, the reverse with tape residue to the top left and right corners of verso, a few pinholes, slight adhesive residue to each corner of verso.
