Ocular.- [Pierre de Limoges.] De oculo morali, table of contents by Mathias Farinator, second edition, collation: [a8 b10 c8 d-f10 g6], 61 ff. (of 62, lacking initial blank), 37-39 lines and headline, Gothic type, b1 large initial in red and rubricated in red, inscription in red ink "In. gloriam. Deo. 1480. W" to facing blank verso of a8, occasional early marginal annotation, e7 neat repair to upper blank corner, b9 & e9 very small loss to upper blank corner, Sig. e with wormhole to fore-margin, some light staining and surface soiling, mainly to upper-margin, overall a very good and wide-margined copy, 19th century half russia by Bauzonnet, spine gilt, label removed to foot of spine, fading to head of upper cover, some wear to extremities including small chip to head of lower joint, upper joint split at foot but holding firm, folio (282 x 192mm.), [Augsburg, Anton Sorg], [c.1477].
*** Second edition of "the second earliest printed work on the eye, Grassus's De oculis (1474) being the first" (Becker). It contains a description of the eye, together with a brief account of eye diseases and their treatment. The work, first printed by Anton Sorg not after August 1476, is erroneously ascribed to Johannes de Peckham on the final leaf verso, but the author is probably Pierre de Limoges.
