Description

Heraldry.- Ferne (John) The Blazon of Gentrie: Devided into two parts..., first edition, woodcut armorial illustrations, with blank Z4 and final blank, Sig. M bound in wrong order, first few Sig. with single wormhole to head of gutter, some light soiling, else a good and wide-margined copy, contemporary panelled calf, gilt, covers with central gilt lozenge, rebacked, covers with few small wormholes and few repairs, upper joint split at foot, lower cover detached, preserved in a morocco pull-top box (quite worn, one panel working loose), [STC 10825], 4to (220 x 158mm.), John Windet, for Andrew Maunsell, 1586. 

 

*** A variant has Toby Cooke's name in the imprint. The genealogical tree to 2D1 verso was printed upside-down. In this copy, the cancels were pasted in.
