Porcacchi (Tommaso) Le Isole Piu Famose del Mondo, 3 parts in 1, engraved architectural title and maps and plans by Girolamo Porro, woodcut printer's device at end with initials H.S.G.K, F3 with short marginal tears and corner repaired, small previous owner's inscription to final f. verso, occasional light ink- or finger-soiling but overall still a remarkably clean and crisp copy, modern antique style blind-stamped calf, small light stain to upper cover, small folio (300 x 205mm), Venice, Giorgio Angelieri for heirs of Simone Galignani de Karera, 1590.

⁂ A superb copy of this rare early atlas of the late sixteenth century, treating the world as a collection of islands. This edition contains seventeen additional maps, mostly of the islands of the Greek archipelago, which were introduced in the 1576 edition.
