Dedicated to the Honourable Colonel Parsons, engraved throughout with pictorial title and 11 superb plates by Gribelin, n.p., 1704 bound after Parsons (Col. William) A New Book of Cyphers, engraved throughout with frontispiece, title, dedication, advertisement and 52 plates, tear to frontispiece (repaired), for the Author...by W.Rogers and H.Rhodes..., 1704, together 2 works in 1 vol., foxing, mostly marginal, contemporary panelled calf, rubbed, rebacked, [Berlin Kat. 752 & 5315], oblong 4to
⁂ The first is rare and one of the most attractive of all books on ornament. Library Hub records only 2 copies (Sheffield Hallam University and Trinity College Dublin). The last copy we have been able to trace at auction was in 1981, with the plates all cut and mounted. The portrait incorporated in the second plate is Colonel Parsons, the author of the second work.
