Alchemy.- Lacinius (Janus) Praeciosa ac nobilissima artis chymiae collectanea de occultissimo ac praeciosissimo philosophorum lapide, collation: a-b4 A-Z4 Aa-Hh4, title with woodcut printer's device, full-page woodcut to verso of b4 (crudely coloured in a grey wash), woodcut historiated initials, water-stained, orange / grey colouring to verso of title, 17th century calf, rebacked, upper cover somewhat bowed, small 4to (173 x 129mm.), Nuremberg, Gabriel Hayn, 1554.
⁂ First edition of this alchemical manual. It is thought that the author was in fact Giovanni da Crotone, a Franciscan friar from Calabria, and that Lacinius is a pseudonym.
