Schreittmann (Cyriacus) Probierbüchlin. Frembde und subtile künst vormals im truck nie gesehen von woge und gewicht, auch von allerhandt proben auff ertz, golt, silber, und andere methall, collation: A-L8 M6, Gothic letter, title in red and black and with a woodcut of weighing scales, woodcuts in text, including furnaces, woodcut initials and head- and tail-pieces, marginal water-staining, lightly browned, occasional spotting, 20th century half calf, spine titled in gilt, 8vo (152 x 92mm.), Frankfurt, Heirs of Christian Egenolff, 1580.
⁂ Scarce re-issue of the 1578 first edition of 'a work on the dry assay of gold and silver. The first half of the book is taken up with a description of the construction and use of the balance and weights which is very minute and careful, the second treats of furnaces, muffles and materials, and the last part contains the operations' (Fergusson).
