Lithograph printed on double chine collé and thin japon, circa 1861 but printed 1867, Préaud's first state B (of 2) with the address of Lemercie and "white bird" at the lower left corner, before the transfer to another stone, 565 x 440mm (22 1/4 x 17 1/4in) [circa 1861, printed 1867] (unframed)

⁂ An excellent early lifetime impression of one of the finest lithographs of the 19th century. "Bresdin's bizarre visions were appreciated during his lifetime only by a select circle including writers such as Victor Hugo (1802-1885) and Charles Baudelaire (1821-1867)".

Condition Report

The second sheet of japon with tissue support verso mounted onto later paper support and some expertly repaired tears particularly to the lower centre margin, outside the image.
